Step 3: BTCB to BTC (Binance Smart chain to Bitcoin blockchain)

BTCB is a BEP2/BEP20 asset wrapped (pegged) on Binance Chain/Binance Smart Chain with a 1:1 peg to BTC locked on the Bitcoin blockchain. BTCB is operated on a centralized and trust-based model. The 1:1 peg means that the amount of wrapped BTCB is equal to the amount of BTC locked in a public address. We also refer to this system as a layer 2 protocol: Proof of stake, which has significantly more utility, speed, and cost incentives over traditional BTC (proof of work).
In order to convert your BTCB to traditional BTC, You will need:
  • Binance Account. Get it here: https://bit.ly/3wSQt1I
  • Go to your "Assets" section on Binance and find your BTC BEP20 receiving/deposit wallet.
  • Send BTCB from your metamask to the BEP20 (BSC) address in Binance when depositing BTC. Binance will automatically convert BTCB to pure BTC in the platform.
  • Withdraw your traditional BTC into your hardware wallet for safekeeping (optional).
